The Nefarious and Pervasive use of Rapture and Second Coming Tables

The many various tables which are presented as proof of two future comings of Christ are very effective tools to cause the eschatologically IGNORANT (those who do not have an intimate familiarity with all these eschatological texts) to think that there is overwhelming evidence in support of a rapture coming of Christ that is distinct from His second coming (parousia).

If the table has more than a few references, it can be observed that texts referring to Christ's revelation (apokalupsis) are found in both columns, under the heading rapture and under the heading second coming. Christ’s revelation is when He is revealed in glory and power with the mighty and holy angels for every eye to see. The Greek word is apokalupsis. It is the first activity of Christ's second Parousia (coming). It is also what takes place immediately before the resurrection, change, and rapture of the saints. Note all the pertinent apokalupsis texts below and how many of them are explicit in their description of the church’s involvement in this event.

1Co 1:7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the COMING [apokalupsis] of our Lord Jesus Christ:

2Th 1:7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be REVEALED [apokalupsis] from heaven WITH HIS MIGHTY ANGELS,

2Th 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 2Th 1:9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

2Th 1:10 When he shall come to be GLORIFIED in his saints [holy angels], and to be admired in all them that believe [resurrected, changed, and raptured church] (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

Jud 1:14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his SAINTS,

Jud 1:15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

1Pe 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the APPEARING [apokalupsis] of Jesus Christ:

1Pe 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the REVELATION [apokalupsis] of Jesus Christ;

Luk 17:30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed [apokalupsis].

Rev 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and EVERY EYE SHALL SEE HIM, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

Mat 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall SEE the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with POWER and GREAT GLORY.

Luk 21:27 And then shall they SEE the Son of man coming in a cloud with POWER and GREAT GLORY.

Mat 26:64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye SEE the Son of man sitting on the right hand of POWER, and COMING in the clouds of heaven.

1Ti 6:14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the APPEARING [epiphania] of our Lord Jesus Christ:

2Ti 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his APPEARING [epiphania] and his kingdom;

2Ti 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his APPEARING [epiphania].

Tit 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the GLORIOUS APPEARING [epiphania] of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

1Pe 5:4 And when the chief Shepherd shall APPEAR, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

Heb 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he APPEAR the second time without sin unto salvation.

All these verses and many more refer to Christ's revelation. It is the first act of Christ at His 2nd parousia. It is followed by the rapture of the resurrected and changed saints.

These tables are ripe with deception. Those who know the Word of God can easily explain the error in them.

As I See It

We are at present beginning to experience those evils that Jesus called "the beginning of sorrows" (Matt 24:4-8). In Christ's answer to the disciple's question concerning the sign of His parousia (co
